Dear Aspiring Christian Life Coach,
Five years ago I was facing a period of transition, both personally and professionally. Having spent the majority of my adult life in vocational ministry, I had a real sense that it was time for a change. The time had come for me to launch a personal ministry and business. Enter Life Coaching.
So I attended a seminar here and read a book or two there, but despite my efforts I felt like I was spinning my wheels and getting nowhere. As I began to survey the broader landscape of this field of Christian life coaching I discovered there were few clear paths. And I had far more questions than I had answers.
Where should I turn for help to develop the skills and training I needed? Which sources were reputable and which weren’t? What coaching niche should I choose? What about certification or insurance? How could I get up to speed with marketing my services, especially in this crazy online world we live in? Then there was the business side. Should I choose to form an LLC or S-Corp? What about all the records and red tape? Where could I, the “anti bookkeeper,” look for wisdom and help to set up a viable business?
And so I embarked on what became a five-year journey. The good news was I already had two things in my favor. One, I’m a voracious reader and life-long learner, and two, I’m a teacher at heart. As a learner I had no problem immersing myself in books, podcasts, online courses; really anything I could get my hands on.
So it was that, somewhat by accident, I tapped into a vital concern; a need to provide a step-by-step system so others like myself could find the answers they were looking for. By this time I was also teaching part-time at a local college. So I decided the best way to reinforce my own progress was to begin to teach what I was learning to others. I took the best of what I had discovered and, as I built my own coaching practice, I began teaching others how to do the same.
To date I’ve trained over 100 Christian Life Coaches, both nationally and internationally, in the Teach Me to Coach System. Along the way I’ve discovered a passion for helping aspiring Christian life coaches find answers to the most common questions, problems and obstacles they face.
I know what it’s like to want to make a difference, but not to know where to start. I understand the struggle to build momentum; the sense of overwhelm at times and even self-doubt. I also know the thrill of experiencing breakthrough, both as I coach others individually and as I experience growth in my larger practice!
That’s why I started the TeachMetoCoach.com website. To help folks just like you to skip the detours and dead ends, build on a solid foundation, and accelerate your progress as you embark on this exciting journey of becoming a Christian life coach.
In closing, let me be clear. It’s important to remember the foundation of ALL we do: Jesus Christ. Psalm 127:1 reads, Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.
